FONDATION BIENFAISANCE, INC.
|

Dear Friends and Colleagues,
March 2005 marked the second phase of our community
health program, Vaccination and Family Planning. To
reach our goal, we increased our staff; two nurses and
two health agents were hired to coordinate these
activities. The month of March 2005 has been very
promising and an eye-opening month for Fondation
Bienfaisance. The access and delivery of health and
health care services have increased. The population has
responded positively to our services. Patients and their
parents have expressed the need for access to more
specialized procedures, surgery and operation.
In March 2005, we have started to receive your
donations. We thank you and are very appreciative for
your help.
Furthermore, we are putting our board in place, and
decided on Fritz Gerald Francois, JD as chairman for the
year 2005. Yves Blanchard, another board member and
Director of the Direction of Community Research at the
University Notre Dame d’Haiti has published the results of
his research on “Decayette” and “Savann Pistache” in
the manual called ” La Sante des Pauvres” i.e The Health
of the Poor. Fondation Bienfaisance will use the manual
as a teaching and guiding tool in the formulation and the
implementation of our own projects. The manual “La
Sante des Pauvres” will soon be made available to
sponsors like you.
Our goal is to transform the medical center into a working
hospital, in early April 2005, we proposed to add an
Operating Room to our services in response to the
overwhelming demand and urgent call from the
population. We have already started with the
groundwork.
In closing, we want to share with you an article from the
AFP dated March 1, 2005 on the state of health and health
care services in Haiti. This article will give you an idea of
the challenges that our young organization and the entire
country face in the quest to promote and provide health
and health care services to all.

This newsletter, our second to date, is to keep you
updated on our progress to ask for your contribution. Our
strategy was to lay the foundations and become fully
operational before we turn to you for help. Today is our
time to ask for your help; today is your time to give to
support this endeavor.
Thank you.
